Sewing Patterns
Fred Bloebaum, a woman designer with a man's name, creates her elegant line of clothing in California. Fred favours clean classic lines with a contemporary twist. Her patterns are being received enthusiastically by sewers throughout North America. Fred was recently featured in the Threads' Design Challenge.

This versatile skirt comes in two versions, each with a mid-calf or slightly below the knee length. All skirts feature an angled pocket at the hip. All skirts close with a zipper at the center back. View A(long) and B(short) are 4-gore skirts, with a flare at the bottom. These flared skirts can be cut on either the straight of the grain or on the bias. View C(long) and D(short) are straight skirts with a long vent at the center back.
Suggested Fabrics: Medium-weight fabrics, such as wool crepe, wool gabardine, medium-weight linen or rayon, silk duppioni, silk noil, wool or rayon challis, medium-weight knits such as double knit or wool jersey, fluid cottons for flared skirt, firmer cottons for straight skirt, stretch wovens for straight skirt. Cassandra Skirt
A fitted, flared mid-calf length skirt with separate center panel and side/back panel which wraps around and meets at center front with a decorative closure. Skirt is cut on the bias at center back with a slightly fish-tail shaped hem and an invisible zipper. Sale $7

Penelope Jacket
This fingertip length, loose-fitting cardigan-style jacket features decorative piping (view A) or binding around the entire outer edge (view B). It includes a small funnel collar and dolman sleeves, with separate center and side panels in back. Two pocket choices are available on the front; a piped single welt pocket (view A) or a patch pocket that extends into the side seam 9view B). Suggested Fabrics: View A: silk matka (a linen-like silk); heavy linen or rayon; wool or rayon gabardine; home-dec cotton; wool flannel, crepe or tricotine; or triacetate. View B: wool double-knit, rayon chenille, sweater knits, wool boucle, hand-wovens or cotton velour. you may choose to underline some of these fabrics with a fusible knit interfacing or a soft cotton to give them more body.. Olympia Coat
This loose-fitting coat in 3/4 or lower calf length features an all-in-one sleeve with a separate underarm panel and gusset for greater range of motion. You may choose either a high, rounded neckline (view A) or a small petal collar (view B). Pocket options include a "windowpane" cut-out pocket at the side seam or an angled patch pocket. The Olympia coat pattern includes pattern and instructions for lining.
